I am immediately intrigued by this collection of photographs. I definitely am more drawn to the top 6 because of the emphasis you’ve placed on having two different textures or patterns in each photograph. My eyes keep going back to the first one, because of the overlapping shadow and texture, and the third one because of this lifted effect that the water has once it touches the paper. It creates a lot of interesting shadows and highlights that really draw me in. I also appreciate the cropping of each photograph as it perfectly highlights the focus but also the ambiguity of your subject X. I do think some images still could be cropped even more, like the last one for example. Especially compared to the other images you have, the last one feels slightly out of place and I believe that to be because of the cropping. It feels a little too obvious as to what the viewer is looking at or what they’re supposed to be looking at whereas the other images keeping me looking and trying to analyze the images. I’m excited to see where your subject X goes!

I love these sets of photos! I think you’ve captured the texture of all of these objects very well! I would say the first four are my favourites and wouldn’t change a lot about them, however I can see in some that the contrast is either a bit too high or low in the others, making them read sort of flat and not allowing the texture of the object to fully come through. All in all, I think that your lighting in each one is very interesting and cool and I can’t wait to see how you will introduce colour lighting into the mix with your subject x!
